Trinidad & Tobago E-Commerce ready?

Updated: Jun 2, 2020

The year 2020 has been a shift for all types of businesses to reflect on their state of operations, are they essential or non-essential? However, the question truly is whether we are capable of adapting to the new norm in the world and can we change for the better?

This is where we must update our business practices to finally match those of the United States & Europe, something that has been on the internet since the rise of Facebook & Amazon, it's called E-Commerce.

What is E-Commerce?

E-commerce (electronic commerce) is the buying and selling of goods and services, or the transmitting of funds or data, over an electronic network, primarily the internet. These business transactions occur either as business-to-business (B2B), business-to-consumer (B2C), consumer-to-consumer or consumer-to-business.

Again, is Trinidad & Tobago E-Commerce ready? We need to get out of the mentality that we are a 3rd world country, we need to stop with the "DM for price" era and we absolutely need to become more customer focused from a internet perspective. Yes, I said it. No more must small businesses have the mentality of operating in a selfish manner, now there are some small businesses that do extremely well in e-commerce but the majority not so much.

Don't bash the 1%'ers, they earn because of their ability to adapt, transform and overcome. Why can't it be called the 2%'ers by the end of 2020? How? E-Commerce.

Not everyone is going to do it but we can help the few who can make true change, how can you be more e-commerce relevant? Here's my quick list:

  1. Properly setup & optimize your social media pages (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook & Google My Business).

  2. Get a website (all businesses need one, don't believe me? Look at your business niche in the US or Europe)

  3. Register your business (don't say you're too small to do that, the benefits that comes with this status is rewarding).

  4. Accept online payments (there are a variety of options, start with WiPay).

  5. Have delivery options with a local courier service (TTPost etc).

  6. Email Marketing - Develop that close customer relationship

  7. WhatsApp Business

This is why I'm so passionate about KSV Marketing, business growth & e-commerce, because I believe the change we help create today can be a milestone for change in Trinidad & Tobago's business practices in years to come and it all started with you. Yes, your business.

So this article is just going to be the start of what we're about to talk about with e-commerce and what we are ready to do as a company to help you be ready for whatever the world has next. Pandemic, natural disaster, financial crisis or just general business booming expansion, the truth about it is what once you have the thought in your mind you can do it. Whatsoever someone can conceive in their mind, you can achieve it. Use your purpose & gift to do great things and understand the potential you've been given.
